About a year ago, in a field I was relic hunting, I found the stone item shown in the first three pictures. It looks to be worked and is flat on one side. I figured it was some sort of scraper and brought it home. Last night I was back in the same field and found the stone item shown in pictures Four and five. It also looks to have been worked down to possibly be used as some sort of scraper. What do you folks think? Indian artifacts? Thanks! By the way, the items were found in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

The 2nd and 3rd photo it looks to be a celt and from the photo it looks to be a double bit celt. The last 2 photos look to be a natural stone. Show some more photos of the item in the 2nd and 3rd photo..

When I washed the second stone, I can see small scratches at the area that appears to be sharpened, and it’s very smooth. Not sure, but because it was found so close to the other one, I thought it could be some type of tool. Anyhow, here are more photos of it. Thanks for your help.

Can you do more pics of the 1st item I think that’s the one that may be a an artifact possibly a Celt as monsterack was saying

What is the material? When I zoom in it looks like Limestone which would like rule out Celts since it's too soft of a stone for that use.

Here are a few more pictures. It’s been sharpened on three sides with one flat side. Not sure what the stone is.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1530058199.813591.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1530058215.903932.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1530058233.307761.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1530058253.135755.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1530058268.101747.jpg

Thanks for the extra pics .... that ones tough it really looks like a Celt ... only thing that looks odd is that 3rd flat side but the bit ends look correct , hopefully somebody more knowledgeable will chime in. If it is indeed a Celt that’s a great find and at least for me a bucket list item that’s getting harder and harder to find.

It can be really hard to say one way or the other on items like this. I look an outcropping of limestone on the river for shark teeth that erodes from the swirling waters in such a way that leaves razor sharp pieces everywhere, both attached and detached. You have to tread carefully or risk a bad injury at this spot. But your having found it in a field would make one lean toward it being used for something, even if having been picked up at an outcropping on the river and taken back to the camp for use as a tool.

This was found a few miles from any waterway sandchip, on a small hill in the middle of a hay field. No other rocks that look like this (that I’ve seen) in the field.
