I didn't do so well today.....no hammered :(

It was the worst conditions I have ever detected in, I could barely lift my feet or my spade :o I was only digging the good signals because the Wheat is well showing.

Got a good few buttons, a nice lead token and my smallest buckle yet!
Another 17th c token(completely blank) and one and a half Rose Farthings...I think :icon_scratch:

Also got a strange pewter token/coin!

:hello:

Shaun al I can say is, that's what I like to see on a field :o looks Roman to me ;D although I have seen Saxon pottery similar to this, either way it's a good sign

Last one looks like a tin & copper plugged farthing - very rare - look at the William & Mary type in your book :o

1.5 rose farthings & lots of encouraging signs

Stick at it, it will pay off better next time :icon_thumright:

It looks like it could be a medal or something, too thick for a coin :-\

Yes plenty of good signs, there's good stuff there I'm sure!

Great finds Shaun.
So, It's mucky over the pond huh?

Mucky is not the word! I nearly gave up a few times because the spade was so caked in mud it just wouldn't dig :P

Keep digging those buttons! I want to see a killer one this year.

Sorry about the Cartwheel.

All of these fields that are in your area are good fields ... just have to wait for the rain stop and spend time.
Greetings!

The couple of buttons with detail I got sort of saved the day :-\ I'm starting to like buttons!

As for the Cartwheel, I'm too busy thinking about gold hammered to worry about them ;D

Come on now, you will giggle like a school girl the day you get your big penny. ;D

Hi shaun, nice buttons there and the token looks really good :icon_thumleft:. The pottery looks AS but doesn't have the tumbled appearance I would expect for that age. I'll dig my pottery tombes out and have a look, could you send me another pic with something in for scale. On a different topic I was cleaning out some boxes and such in the loft and re-found a coin that has been in my family for over 150 years. I'll give you 1 guess as to what it is ;D :laughing9: ;D.
