Hi folks!

I am new to this forum and wanted to show some pics and finds from yesterday's hunt ;)

Started the day off around Noon hunting across the street from an old baseball field at the fort.

Here I am already to go! :D

A few hours later, and a few wheat pennies dug, I finally managed to come across this nice '40 merc at 3" deep ;D

About a half hour later, I got a 78 reading thinking it was another wheat or clad penny at 5". Started digging the target, but ran into a tree root a few inches down. Not discouraged, I started digging around the root and under but still no target even though it still pinpointed underneath the root.

Was just about to give up digging thinking it was a hot rock or trash when out pops this :o

My first ever seated dime after 4 years of detecting the fort :D The pic was taken at the house instead of the site 'cause my camera started acting up and got a little frustrated >:(

I tell ya folks, this dime took me by surprise to say the least it caused me to do the popular AU break dance all my friends know so well ;D

As I was leaving the woods, I dug my last silver coin of the day. A '56 rosie ;)

Took my finds home and here they are before and after cleaning

Dude! I love that find pouch you have on in your first picture! Actually I have the same model and brand as you do. <grin> Home Depot Special, 95 cents! I wish the bottom was made of mesh though.. to let all the accumulated dirt and sand fall through, but hey, for 95 cents you can't complain. Great job at the ball field! I find most of my battery money and clad at the local ball fields as well. Unfortunately for me, none of them are built on or around old fort sites. I've never found any old silver or any really old coins at all at my favorite ball fields. <shrug> I've only been detecting for a few months though, I'll find me some older sites and I'm sure I start finding older coins to go with them.

Happy Hunting!

Frodov

p.s. interesting pick of the break dancer.. <grin>
