Another seal !!!!

Spent a few pleasant hours this afternoon on a rock hard pasture field. The digging in places was almost impossible, and the field seem to be full of aluminium blobs. Then right at the end of the session, this little beauty came up. A complete 17th Century bronze seal, this made the torture all worthwhile. I have not yet cleaned the seal, I will post some pictures tomorrow of what's under the soil. It does though look to be in excellent condition.

Using oil,50% baby 50% olive, and plastic toothpick .

Baby oil on it's own, can sometimes be a little too corrosive. Also olive oil on it's own, can sometimes dry sticky. Here's the end results.

I hope it continues IP pulled this token out of one of my junk boxes last week. Managed to id it after cleaning it, once again a very rare one Robert Thwaits, mercer of Doncaster in Yorkshire 1666. It's not in great condition, but still a great piece of local history for me. When I first found it years ago, I must have thought it wouldn't clean up. Being in with other bits of metal for all that time may have helped.
