Hunted two city parks in Baltimore yesterday. First park gave me this 1941 one shilling, a "treble gilt colour" flat button, and the remains of a "SKIDOO 23 FOR YOURS" pin badge. This shilling coin is 0.5 silver; the last sterling shilling was minted in 1919.

Not certain of an exact date for the pin badge. I'd date it as pre-WWI. Here is an example of what it looked like new.
23 skidoo badge.jpg Looks like someone took the one I dug and drove a nail through it.

Park #2's finds are this cuff link and a 1900s something IHC that had a run-in with a mechanized grass cutting machine.

The shilling is flipping cool man! I never see English stuff dug here on the west coast. Much more likely to be Philippines stuff.

Nice finds. How do you suppose a fairly modern British coin ended up in a Baltimore park? I found a well worn 1925 shilling the other day that made me wonder the same.

Just for your interest, it's an English version, the matching Scottish one had a seated lion, not a standing one.

Good question, lenmac65. To date, we've found as foreign coins from this site: a George V penny, the shilling of this post, and a one bolivar silver coin from Venezuela, dating from the early 1950s. Perhaps with Baltimore's changing immigrant population, and its being a port city on the East Coast, we see this mix in a park that many locals would frequent. My first ever Queen Victoria silver coin was found in the City and this year I dug my 2nd 19th century silver British coin in another city park.

Good question, Smokey. Maybe a little crazy to be out there in the sun. Did retreat to the shade as I could.

Thanks Jeff. This one was underneath a tree root. I’ve had a lot of good finds by this tree, that included silvers and Indians.

Thanks Crusader. I appreciate the detail you provided. Great to find British coins here in Baltimore.
