I went back to a sight that had been very good to me yesterday. I had found my second silver dollar there. It was just getting light when I started to detect. I was disappointed though because a lot of dirt had already been hauled away since yesterday, but there was still an area I could hunt. I hunted for an hour before I got a good signal and dug this coin. I had never seen a coin like it. It is a silver 1910 Canadian half dollar. It was a great find, but I sure had my heart set on a Barber half. Oh well the hunt continues. If you have any info on the coin please let me know. HH Dennis in Idaho

Nice coin, I found a 1910 Canadian dime just like the half you found. It is silver, just not US silver. Can't tell you what it's worth, but it is still a nice find. Congrats

The Silver content of older canadian silver is more then the US..... .925% Canadian to .900% US. However, I also know the feeling you have. I have yet to find a Barber but I did find a Canadian 1909 Dime ;D

Hey I'm Canadian And up here that coin is litterly like finding 2 of your gold dollars. Back then the canadian mint made 50 cent pieces but they werent ment to be a circulated coin. its kinda hard to explain. But there were a lot, A LOT, A LOT Less canadian coins minted at that time compared to american coins.

Anyway GREAT FIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

That is a very nice find! It's very worn, so the value isn't what it might have been, but there were less than 650,000 made. There were two varieties, and the wear may prevent you from determining which it is. Like Stormtrooper said, it has more silver in it than a comparable US half.

High fives ! Excellent find....I;m in Canada and believe me a 50 cent of that vintage is hard to find. This is my 4th year detecting and I;ve only found 1.It is a 1913 and is in beautiful condition. You;ll also enjoy the little silver 5 cent coins too when you find them.I notice many USA hunters have found them since I;ve been watching the detecting forums.God Bless and Happy Hunting ...Panz
