My family recently purchased some land in the mountains of WV. A lot of trees were cleared and the ground is all sandy. There are sandstones everywhere, one is as big as a car. Any possibility that there are any good fossils in the sandstones in the mountains?

Thanks.

I used to live not that far away in SE Ohio. You may find some carbonaceous material such as tree/plant material in sandstones. Forget about the sandstones and look for fossil critters and plants in shales and limestones. Plenty of fossils in WV. Take a hammer and wack some limestones and shales and look for them.
