Not quite sure what to call this. I found this today while walking a creek in southern Ohio. It is stone but I have no idea if this is an artifact, or what. Ideas/suggestions are appreciated ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1458503353.325546.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1458503368.393382.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1458503383.327746.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1458503402.630858.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1458503429.434379.jpg

rock, fired clay or cement?...can you tell?

Very cool. I do think it was for some kind of grinding process...Don't know for sure.

I thought it was rubber or molded metal as well when I saw it, it is stone though. I have taken it to show some of the local hunters/collectors who have been finding things a lot longer than I have and they all said the same thing, I have never seen anything like it. They have all come to the consensus that it is a discoidal. It is a possibility but I am still puzzled.
Thanks for the input!

I dont think its a disc but thats just me. Might be colonial though seeing it is stone. Neat find

It's not N-D-N.

I want to say thanks to Drew for bringing this by for me to see. I am still just as confused as when I saw it on here. I really have no clue as to what it is. It is definitely made of stone though. Not really sure if it's a Discoidal though and if it is it is one of the oddest ones I've ever seen. It looks like it has grooves in the center hole and may have actually been threaded at one time. I think maybe something from a Grist Meal? Not sure, but it is very cool.

It looks very intriguing to me as well, do the threading scars in the hole resemble hollow core/hollow reed type drilling scars or something else?

I gotta think if anyone knows holes and stones around here, it's grim. And I am sure he would have commented had he seen typical primitive drilling.
