Since no one else replied, here's the perspective of another New Englander. The original European settlements here in the New World were sponsored by businessmen seeking profit from their investment. So, the settlers themselves, were, not only interested in survival, but in seeking out the wealth of the New World to pay off their debts to their benefactors. Consequently, this being the longest settled part of this country, the area has been thoroughly picked clean of it's natural resources, if any. Thus, we are left with tales of pirate treasure centuries older than, say the gold caches of the mineral rich west, which were productive through the end of the 1800's. With tales that old, the actual facts are intermingled with rumor and inuendo, reducing them to legends rather than factual accounts. There are no doubt personal caches to be found, but nothing on the scale of the caches out west. There are also s few tales of Revolutionary War payrolls gone missing, but, once again, old and diluted. So, I can't give you much hope for the big one. Good luck.
