Thats a great button! It's in fantastic shape!

FECHHEIMER & CO. made buttons during the 1870s... UPDATE: I cannot say when the button was made with any accuracy, but one source states the previous date of the 1870s. As you will read, further informatin shows that it could have been made anytime since 1842... The botton has a late 1800 look to it... but??

Congrats!

Fechheimer has been making uniform stuff ever since... and still is today.

When you see Fechheimer Brothers Company products, you might not be having the best of days. Founded in 1842, it's a subsidiary of billionaire Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway. The firm is a leading uniform manufacturer that outfits those who are employed in public service industries, such as corrections, fire and EMS, military, police, postal, and umpires, as well as military school students. Brand names include Flying Cross by Fechheimer and Urban Defender (battle dress uniforms). David Hoguet succeded Brad Kinstler as president and CEO in July 2005 but resigned in December 2006.

Okay... I have some more information from an esteamed friend of mine and of TreasureNet...

The below was send to me for you about value:

Bob Edmondson lists a few (no photos, though) from $2.50 to $4.

Note: one sold on eBay in Canada for $21.49, but it was a staff button with a late 1800's Waterbury backmark— and I think the price was probably a fluke anyway.

Hughes & Lester listed the same button for $2.50 back in 1981, and I doubt that the value would jump to nearly ten times that amount for a big-city police uniform button with a major button company backmark.

Hope this helps... :) I think you have a great keeper that will display nicely...

Who cares about value (not me), it's a great looking button for its age. :)
