Did a small bit of reading some old material about Ol Ben Sublett. If I am not mistaken I think that most of the land that it was supposedly located on is state owned.

There are some newspaper clips floating around here on Tnet about him and the story. Good story.

I've read several variations to this story.....from, he found the gold that was in a Burned out wagon due to an Indian raid on it in the Monahans sand dunes to, the Guadalupe mine he may have found there. Where ever around that area, he said very little about his find
