??? question, i have the Garrett GTAX 550 and i was reading in my owners manual today and saw a section where it says that the coil is water proof although the display panel is not well i figured that the computer part wasn't but is this true about the coil?? i was by a creek the other day and i wanted to see if i could find anything in the crick itself but was scared to put the coil in the water so i just set my depth as high as it would go and just ran my coil over the waters surface. can anyone tell me if i can put the coil in the water without damaging anything theres supposedly allot of gold nuggets that have come out of this crick in the last few years.

Yes The Coils are Waterproof.

However if it's the Solid White Coil It will try to Float.
