Hi! I'd just like to share my cool finds in the Ozark mountains of the Natural state (Arkansas)! Some were found my me, some by family, and some by others on my land. Thanks for reading and please share your thoughts on these items!

I'll start with my most prize posession, two arrowheads found by my grandmother when she was a child

found this when I was about 6 years old in a state park (shhh dont tell!!)

These were found on my land as a kid, and they really stand out to me as I've never seen any quite with this style (perfectly flat bottom and perfect triangle shapes)

This one is truly awesome
1029172349.jpg 1029172349a.jpg 1029172350.jpg
Found on my land as well
1029172348b.jpg 1029172352a.jpg
This, I don't think was an arrowhead, but was some kind of cutting tool perhaps? Love to know your thoughts on this one!
1029172353.jpg 1029172353a.jpg 1029172353b.jpg
Even IF these aren't anything, they're still cool! (Let me know what you think)

last arrowhead

And finally, I'll end with some beautiful Arkansas quartz - some of the finest in the world ;)

Welcome to the forum!

You have some nice memories, artifacts, and some real treasures too.

The flat bottom ones, are likely broken tips. That's my opinion anyway.

Love that crystal too.

Thanks, haha loving this site already! And yeah I will likely never get rid of any of these because of their origins...

Also if anyone knows what some of the other stuff might be, please tell!

A couple of the others are just natural, like the crystal.

You can disagree with my assessment all you want, but it won’t change what them are. Let’s see what the others think.

Looks like points, partial points and several pieces of knapping debitage. The small piece under "truly awesome" looks like debitage.

I could see that, I will definitely be taking these to my buddy that owns an artifact shop. He will be able to tell for sure

Yea thats what I was assuming, thought they might have been tools but still looked fairly natural, so I wasn't sure

Thanks for the input guys :icon_thumright:

But I gotta disagree on the flat bottoms being broken tips .. They are literally perfectly flat, and the tips of the 3 on the right are still there. The 2 on the left definitely had the tips broken, but are still very flat on the bottom in particular.

Also if anyone knows what some of the other stuff might be, please tell!

I'm reproducing your photo here, to better explain. See the one second from the left? The flat bottom is the broken tip. You've positioned it so that the contracting stem is at the top. In other words, you're showing it in an upside down position. The broken tip at bottom, the stem at the top. I do agree with quito that the three on right are broken tips, not finished points. The far right one I'm not sure if a broken tip or a flake...

Welcome aboard , nice finds. It's not uncommon to find points broken with a straight edge I have a bunch especially when found in a plowed field.

Yep, you're right! See it now, thanks for all the tips guys. I found these when I was just a kid so I know just a little about them. The second one from the left is actually broke on both ends so I didnt know which side was which :laughing7:

Anyways Im going to some creeks today to search for the first time in years, wish me luck!

You guys find some really nice points back east. They're usually broken when I find them, and so they stay right where they are. Congrats on some nice finds! Id put them in a display case to keep them nice and safe. And in 4th and 5th photos with the penny, the piece second over from the right looks like the tip of a point or knife, in case nobody else mentioned it.

I believe both of the pieces on the left are bases.

Thanks, and yeah I could see that since these were found with very little effort :laughing7: hoping to find someone willing to let me go on their private land and search, would be much better than a public river/creek. Didnt have much luck today at the Illinois river ..

Welcome to the site- and thanks for sharing your stuff! I agree w/ the others- you have a selection of brokes, debitage and possible scraping tools. I'd say- get back out there and see what you find with fresh eyes! You never know.....(!)
Cheers and HH! ;)
