I know have 3 hrs on my AT Gold and wanted to post my first finds. This is the first detector I have ever owned and its not bad at all on learning. I dont live in a relic area inless I find an old miners camp or cabin so I have come to the conclusion that I wil not dig up anything that is under a 70's reading. I was with someone who had a Gold Bug 2 it was a nice unit but he had to dig everything up that it hit on and whats nice about the Garett AT is it will weed out the junk so less digging. My new AT Gold now only cost me $699.65 clearly on my way to paying for itself LOL
The rock looking thing I think is a blob of lead but not sure it got a reading of 80 on the detector and its heavy.
The money got a reading in the high 80's
And the rest just wasn't sure so I dug it up just incase
I also had a couple of cans with a highreadings but they fell apart when trying to remove them

You WILL miss gold if you discriminate anything below the 70's. Just letting ya know. Hate for you to miss the gold! Unless you don't want it. Lol

Thank you for that advise. I was reading another post and they said gold will be the 50 range, I thought gold would be up around the high 80's I have no gold to test it. Every little bit advise helps when learning

Hi Ray,

You can turn your iron discrimination up to 35 to eliminate small iron. Most gold will be between 40-70, the lower numbers are generally smaller women's thin gold bands or small pendants, earrings, etc. The bigger the gold, the higher the potential number. Silver rings will generally ring in the 80s. Nickels and some pull tabs are around 52-53. I always recommend digging all repeatable numbers from 40 up if you want to get gold jewelry.

Here are some air test numbers to get you started:
