Awesome Detecting Day!!!

Any day you can detect in Canada at the end of December is an awesome detecting day. We're still socked in under a foot of snow and ice but I was itching to swing the coil.

This is the view outside my bathroom window when I woke up...not too promising.

I checked the tide times and saw that low tide was at 1pm so I packed my detector and off I went. This is the area I was searching...a beach off the oldest continued settlement in North America...so I knew I had a chance.

Found a few modern targets and then spotted this right on the surface...

See it?

Copper doesn't usually fare too well in the salt water so I was happy to get any detail at all.

Also got a few eyeball finds including my first intact pipe bowl...just plain with no design but I'm still happy with it!

Just keep going back over it till you get close enough. ;) Maybe a tent? A couple mobile heaters?
Once you get down to the ground, you can borrow my jackhammer. LOL

I'll take option 2. (drink coffee and wait for Spring)

You know, I had a funny thought when I was out hunting yesterday. I was giving a tot lot a once over and the very top of the wood chips was frozen. I'd get a hit, actually cut a hole in the ice and the dig. I'd heard of "dirt fishing" But, I never thought I'd be "ice fishing" with my detector! LOL

I kinda like the idea of waiting for Spring. Got a second cup? :coffee2:

LMAO!!! How did you know? My son is still scarred from that day. He had to take the pictures. :tongue3: Hey, I still have the gold, diamond, and sapphire ring for doing that stunt. Problem is, I kind of liked the feel of those nylons. Speaking of nylons, remember the IRON PATCH super hero I dug years ago?
Thanks for the memories.

Great finds, awesome way to spend a snow covered day, Romeo. I am going to get over one of these days with your cannonballs and to do a little Mudlarking with ya, but it's going to have to wait untill the new year. I've got a dive planed for Sunday and it looks like we might be able to get in and out befor the next storm hits us.
I'll be in touch.

That was a pretty epic thread, and yes I remember the super hero post. :)

Better scarred than seeing if he can fit in it like his old man. :laughing7:

Very good post and a good day for you. I also like the pipe bowl. Is it made of bone? Looks kinda like it.
