I went back to the old high school here in town and was able to pluck a few things from the grounds again. I was running the Etrac with a wide open screen, TTF, fast recovery and auto sensitivity and had the Minelab 8" coil on it. I was surprised to hit a few of the items as deep and clear as I did with the small coil. The first hit of the day was the boy scout pin at a whopping 1" deep :) The silver dime was 9" deep and gave a reading of 1-34, but the tone was consistent from both directions. All the medallions were 8" deep, the football(both pieces) and megaphone were all in the same hole. The cross was 7" and gave a nice repeatable tone, I was certain I had a wheaty, but was surprised when the cross came out. The Sioux Falls Traction System token was the last thing I expected, especially all the way from Sioux Falls to NM!! The lead bottle top was over 8" deep and of course gave a great signal, it still had some cork in it. I haven't found the date range on it yet. Overall, a pretty good day with a nice variety of stuff for this area.

Cool finds! I assume you meant to say "transit" token and not "traction" :laughing7:

No, the token actually says traction system. Beats the heck out of me :-)

By God, you're right! I just blew it up. That's a bit strange. I've got a bunch of tokens similar to yours and the are all "transit" tokens. Did they have some different sort of system in Sioux Falls? Cog railway maybe?

I think they may have had trolley car's back in the mid-forties.

That is a cool collection of finds. I've found several of those Girl Scout pins, this summer. I really like that megaphone. Is it for the school where you found it? Does it have any identifiers on the back? I ask because I found one similar, but it's a sterling pennant for Yale, and the enamel is gone. It was made around 1880 - 1900. I'm guessing it found its way to central Oklahoma during the land run.
