Bahama Question?

Can anyone tell me if you can metal detect in and around the Bahamas. I will be doing some diving in some remote areas, Walkers Cay, Berry islands etc. Would like to do some beachcombing also! I thought I heard or read somewhere it was allowed only by permit? Wanting to do the right thing.

Go to treasure depot.com. Go to sand and surf forum under "My trip to Bahamas" This guy did great. Lots of rings.
