Say, Old Dog. Does "Western Colorado" mean Grand Junction; or Rifle?

To be a little more specific ...
A little town between Grand junction and Pallisade called Clifton.
Even closer ...Lower Clifton by the Colorado River.

I ran I-70 a few times when I drove the big trucks and always stopped at that little Mom and Pop truckstop near Rifle; on the south side of the highway. Pretty country through there. It's been 15 years though, and that place may not be there anymore. The last time I was through there, I think they were trying to set up a little museum, too.

O.D. - was out your way during the late Elk season (we woke up with it +1 on one morning and the heat had went out sometime during the night). - My second trip to your portion of the state, with this time being more aware of the history so to speak. Absolutely beautiful landscapes. As we were heading home they were shutting I-70 down behind us as we were coming through. At least your 13 below is a dry cold instead of our southeast/mid-atlantic wet cold. :D

Most of the time it is a dry cold, but with all of the snow on the ground,
the humidity is running 70%+. So the cold really cuts pretty hard.
With any kind of wind or breeze a temp of 0 or below...
exposed skin reacts like a sunburn if exposed too long

Awesome stuff Ernie,
all the work you have done with drill holes got erased from the previous part of the thread.
if you don't mind repitition and feel comfortable about it could you please repost the basics.
No need for locations or anything that compromises what you are doing.
Thanks Buddy.

There are a bunch of new folks following this thread that would benifit from your expertice.
I don't know of anyone who knows more about drill holes.

Heres a couple of drill holes with 4 corner dots that indicate a rectangle. The 4 corner symbols of which 2 each sides are 460 feet and 2 sides are 360, each corner has 2 symbols each, if you look at the 1 cm angled hole thats 7 cm deep, it seems to indicate that something is in the middle of the rectangle 7 cm deep and 45 degrees. This has Jesuit Priest fingerprints all over it with the drill holes

I agree and can clarify a little.
The Jesuite influence is evident in that these highly educated people were on these expditions to keep the faith.
But also to make sure that all the rules were followed as well.

dsty,
I agree with OD that there needs to be some new mentoring on bore holes. I have a site with a bore hole and I am clueless on what to make of it.
Any teaching on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

I do not know if this is a sign or not, but I found this carved into a cliff face here in North central PA. It a 3 horned ram. I have done searched for it meaning everywhere i can think of and I found nothing so far. About the only other peice of information i can give you is there is a cemetary on the top of the cliff. Bit looking at the style of carving, i think it was there before the cemetary was.

Try This one. Someone painted over it, but you can see the third horn on the head, the way the carving looks it the third horn is pointing out right above his eyes. As I said before though, there is no real rhyme or reason why it is there, and I don't think it has anything to do with the cemetary. i could be wrong too LOL.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Erin,
I agree it has nothing to do with the cemetary,
and yes it may be a lot older than any of us suspect.

Thanks for sharing

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Anytime, the next time I am in the area I may try and poke around a little and see if there is a ridge or some landmark it is looking at and try going from there. Thats why I posted it here, cause i have no clue what it is for LOL. But thanks for looking.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

I would think that the eyes are telling you more than the 3 horns. ones open and ones closed.

im really curious about the drill holes. ive seen many but i never thought they were signs. kinda makes me sad that i didnt pay enough attention to remember where ive seen them.
