I was digging at my favorite spot today in the freezing cold and wind and right as I was about to leave I got a hit and dug this beauty. I know these are hard to date because of how long they were used. Does anyone have any idea how old this one might be from its design? It was dug in Shippensburg, PA in an area that was a rebel camp during the Civil War and had history before and after the civil war.

A friend says 1850s to 1860's. That would be awesome if it was that old. I love the Green Patina on it.. I just wish I could figure out how to clean it without losing that beautiful green patina on it.

Beautiful old key beeps. Usually a light soap and water cleaning is all you need. A little olive oil wipe might add some luster back to it.
