The Brooch was from yesterday's hunt were I found the 1796 LC.
When I dug it didn't think much of it.
It was covered in crud. So today before I went out again, I cleared my pouch, and gave that a rinse and oh my, this thing is nice..I thought.
So I gave it a quick brush with aluminum jelly, and more was revealed. I thought you guys might want to see it. Its a looker. Lol
As far as today, checked out a new colonial field. And yep there was some goodies, the coppers are pretty toasted, but thats what you get in the fields:-( Im able to make out a bust one the one. Just not sure who?
And also found my second shield rosette.
Thanks for looking.
George.

That broach looks outstanding. Just some aluminum jelly? I always wonder how people get their findings to look so good when mine are usually looking roasted and toasted. Thanks for the info and the look...Brad

Thanks Brad,
Aluminum jelly works great on silver and gold gilded. It really gets the crud off, just dont leave it on long.

Your are correct sir...that is a looker. Nice find and clean up job!

Awesome brooch ! Seems very thick, is it possible that it opens ? :icon_thumleft:

More great finds George, how long do you leave it on??? 2 minutes???

Beautiful...at least, I'll say "it's a stunner"
Certainly something different, (which is what I like) and something I'd like to dig. I worked hard all day today, got no stunners.

Not that long. Just put it on with a brush and brush it gently for 30 sec. Then rinse, if it needs more repeat.

Thats true Rick, definitely not beautiful. More like tacky!! Lol
Alot going on there..

Nice going on that nearly complete pewter spoon George, and I like that shield rosette too. And that brooch, well, you might have to throw that one back :laughing7:.

Beautiful decorated brooch there...first type I see like that... congrats

That is an beautiful piece George! I'm amazed at the condition.

If you cleaned George up, put a funny hat and glasses on him... He could probably be the pope's double. Except he would have a digging tool instead of a septre

HEY VINO THE BROACH IS A COOL FIND ....
