I found a spear head last year and ever since I've been looking for more. I've been looking in the woods, dirt, creek beds, clear cuts and, yes, I have found a huge amount of artifacts, (I thought until I saw all the artifacts on here that had been demoted to natural rocks), I am a beachcomber, and I was looking for sea glass and rocks when I found this on the beach! Can anyone tell me what it is? I'm in Washington, Puget Sound, I found this in Port Gamble. It is about 2.5 inches. WIN_20160715_172735.JPGWIN_20160715_172432.JPG

Here is the first one i found. I found it on the beach in Hansville Washington. I thought it was a piece of green beach glass, couldn't believe my luck.

I found most of my pieces on Washington beaches on private tide lands...your black one is most likely dacite and has a great beach washed finish to it. I would call it middle archaic, so 4,000 plus years old. could be a knife but I like point better.

your other piece is a nice agate and a very common material for the area...would like to see more pictures of it, interesting...how big?

Nice example of a water worn point. I find plenty water worn pieces mostly quartz. Yours must of been in the water a long time to almost erase all of the flaking. Nice save and welcome to the forum.

It's a good one! Someone from your region might be able to tell you a little more about it.

Thanks for the welcome everyone, and the info, i appreciate it. I have a few more things I've found, Ill post them in a bit. It is just amazing to me that I have something that is possibly 4000 years old. Just absolutely amazing!

Thanks unclemac, here are some more of the green one. someone told me it was maybe 500-700 years old. What do you think?WIN_20160718_130510.JPGWIN_20160718_130533.JPGWIN_20160718_130743.JPGWIN_20160718_130751.JPGWIN_20160718_130730.JPG

ooops, I forgot, its two inches long.

I was thinking that too, do you know if there is anyone on here that's from the Pacific Northwest?

That second one don't look green or glass to me. Ain't that worked amber? I don't know but nice!
