Is this a belt buckle? I found this while using an 1851 map to search for an old homestead.

GeneMean, it looks like it could be a buckle, but for what purpose I don't know. Please provide the size of the objects that you post, as it helps greatly in making a determination.
This item could be tiny, or it could be very large (horse related?), but we can't tell without something for size reference.

Thank you TomPA. I posted a new pic for size reference. This piece was found on old farmland on/near the homesite. More digging Wednesday, low 50's here by then.

Shoe buckle or horse equipment would be my guess.
