Went out the other day to a new spot and old farm house from the 1800s ... Hunted for about 2 hours with no coins, did find a musket ball and a 1953 dog tag but no coins . Then on the last hole it happened, I got a multiple signal and pinpointed to a buffalo nickel. Stuck the pinpointer back in the hole and it went off again!!! A mercury dime and then a barber dime and then lastly a barber quarter my first one !!! What a day it makes up for 100 bad days.... HH

Tell us you see a mint mark on the reverse of that 1916 merc ! I'd be ecstatic with that coin spill - looks like you buffed the daylights
out of those silvers !

Nice finds. Just an FYI, you completely destroyed any collector value with the cleaning. It appears you probably used baking soda. If that Merc was a 16-D you would have polished off well over $1,000 in value. Clean coins this way if that's the way you like them, but if you want to preserve collector value you want them to look as natural as possible. Many dug coins both copper and silver have been ruined by harsh cleaning.
