Best hunt I've had in a while.

Lots of goodies in the lawn of a permission... My first ever silver nickel,:headbang: I was beginning to think that these were used all over the country, except for Ft. Myers.:laughing7: Was able to pull 2 nice Merc's, my best ever 18 wheat cents(!), and a sterling silver Cub Scout ring, that is the coolest find of the day for me. Also 2 .50 caliber's, these things are all over town, literally every yard has at least one.

"these things are all over town"...
Tis funny you say that... I have had many thoughts on this...
One is...
"fill dirt" is sometimes (more common than not) trucked in by housing developers...
"fill dirt" supplier piles/lands make great shooting ranges.
This has been in thought of mine for years and I thought of this while experiencing this same "scenario".
Also had this thought ...
Old rancher who owned ALL the land around that area... and hunted... ALOT heh.

I have a theory.... Back in WW2, there was an airfield in Buckingham, the outskirts of Ft. Myers, it was a training facility for fighter pilots.... anyways, the officers lived in barracks here in town, actually Bayside Ave, runs between MacGregor Blvd and First St, by Bennets Coffee Shop...So, Fourth of July and New Years, there were no fireworks to ring in the holiday, so the officers would RAT TAT TAT TAT and airmail volleys of .50 calibers aimlessly into the air. Its the only thing I can think of, well, its what I tell my permissions, for I am all knowing.:laughing7:

Hey Bill, I saw your profile, you have an impressive # of finds yourself!... My lawn today was prolly the best hunting condition I could have asked for... 1910 house, with a thin, tightly mowed lawn, corner lot, no trees, no irrigation.... easy digging! All my wheats were 2 to 6 inches deep, the dimes were a good 8 inches deep, as was the silver nickel. We are in the dry season, so digging plugs is out of the question for this yard. After pin-pointing, I take my diggy tool, cut one time into the turf, probe with the pro-pointer, and when I'm on the coin, I reach in, fondle the sand until I feel my target, Presto!!! Repairing the turf is no sweat, pat down the sand, cover it back up with the weeds, and onto the next...HH!!

A great hunt in my GF's old town. She lived on Marco Polo Blvd. I would tell you that I haven't found a war nick either, but the guys are tired of seeing me cry about it, lol! That's the first ring I have seen like that. Awesome Dave!

Hey dave... you ball deflater team lover heh !!!
If I hear another thing about those deflated balls...
you would think the news would have something better to talk about every 20 minutes.
It is like no one wants to deflate their balls... ?
I like it when my balls are deflated. :)

I am still rooting for the Buccaneers to go back to the Super Bowl... heh
I only watch one sports game a year....THAT one!
I do not really follow sports... Till Super Bowl...
That day I watch... without fail.
Always a good Super Bowl Party to go to.
