It's a clad coin then.

The edge test has never proved wrong. I beg someone to show me a coin that is silver, that doen't pass the Edge test. PS, if the edge is black, then look at the friggin date.

The weight doesn't matter as much as the sound test.

Also, they did not make any silver coins in 1974. S mint, or not. So the odds are it's a plain old 50c piece.

The only reason I know how to test a silver coin is that i have bought fakes coins before I was edumacated.

The weight test, of course, matters, but if it doesn't pass any of the other tests, who cares.

ok so the weight is around 11.7 grams and the sound test was  but the edge is clad..the conclusion then is this is not silver? I want to get rid of this coin really the only thing why I kept was cuz of the sound and now the weight

get a pic up - and if it passes the sound test, I am suprised!

That would be neat if it was on a silver planchet....

ok the only one in question here is the 1974 which I attached pix below..the edge of course looks clad but the sound check and weight is that of silver...i can maybe include an actual weight pic of the 1974 and that of a 40%?

the pic where there are 3 coins you'll see the 1974 in between..

the rest I just included it as they look like an error to me..just wanted to see what the other CRH can say about the error coins?
