I went to a park to detect that I and many other detectorists have hit a lot. I wanted to try out some gold ring settings from Gerry's youtube video on the Xterra gold. It was pretty boring the first couple of hours. (Some can slaw, couple of clad quarters and a lot of nulling.) I was getting discouraged, so I went to leave but decided to detect around this tree in front of my car. All of a sudden I get a booming 8 on the Xterra. I thought it must be a surface pull tab. I ran my Deteknix pin pointer over the spot and it screamed. So I took out my screwdriver and bent down to pop the target when in the dirt and grass I saw a circular gold rim. I said "No way!." I popped it and out came this beautiful men's 14k gold signet ring.

I have made a lot of good finds on the way back to the car. Also a few on my very first target. Lots of pull tabs, bottle caps, can slaw, clad, and trash in between. Lol. It is nice when a plan comes together.
