Got out early this morning. Found a couple of colonial flat buttons and a couple round balls. Then got a call from a client and had to go. I ended up finding this very old road with a beautiful stonewall that runs along the edge. Decided to leave the machine on as I speed walked out. Sure enough a solid 88 signal at 6". Out comes a large copper. Then 3 more within a 3' square area. Had to go after that. Got em home and they are all destroyed. Wish it had been a silver spill. I hate to complain about 4 old coppers but I hate not being able to know what I have. I could make out one, an 1839 LC. I will def be revisiting this spot

I deal with that all the time Abe. Tough soil in my neck of the woods, especially in the mountains. Still it's a thrill to dig them, just a let down when you clean them.

Very nice Abe.

My favorite line is "... wish that it had been a silver spill..." I like the way you complain about finding 4 LCs... When I grow up, I want to be just like YOU! GL&HH.

Boy Abe!! They are 4 of the ugliest coppers I've ever seen...You better stick to silvers..lol.
Now on a other note..You are my hero, looking at maps, then hiking through the woods finding a wall then finding LCs is amazing!!! Keep up the good work.

I know how it feels finding an ugly copper that is unreadable. I still am annoyed I can not make anything out of one of my coppers, I think it could be a really old one too. Usually I can at least see the outline of a bust to help me id it. Still a amazing thing to find, I remember my last (and only) 4 copper pocket spill, except by copper I mean 1940's wheat pennies :laughing7:, still copper though. Continue to hunt that place, I have a feeling that there are many more great finds to be found.

Those buttons, balls, and 'toasty' coppers mean you'll just have to go back out there and find the quality finds that they were masking. Nice hunt all the same! :icon_thumright:
