Very cool find! Could have been a bottle cap that someone put in their pocket rather than litter. When they reached into their pocket, this bottle cap along with the coin trapped inside dropped to the ground and BOOM! a zillion years later you come along and dig it up!

Also found an Alabama tax coin from the 30s also. Must be an old home site. Lots more to find I am sure.

Saw this comment too late. I have the pictures of it. When I was trying to take it out the bottle cap disintegrated.

I dont know what made me knock the dirt out and look at it! Maybe because it seemed heavy. When I knocked the dirt out I caught a glimpse of silver and thought it was odd. Then I took a closer look at. Thought it was a silver dime at first! Very interesting and from now on I will look closer at those bottlecaps!
