I got a nice blacktail buck a couple days ago. Rainy, foggy day in the NW corner of California. Dragged him down the mountain to a road.

Fortunately I had a quad ramp in the truck. Would have been tough lifting into the truck.

Beginning to skin it in the old cabin garage.

Had your wheaties under your belt that day!
Congrats.
Started using a hitch hauler with a ramp about three years ago. Had one stout character last year almost didn't want to go up the ramp....

Thanks guys, yes, this was a fine hunt. My wife and I are getting up there in age and to go out together and get a fine buck like this is really a pleasure.

Yes, as I’m sure you know, for a coastal blacktail this is a dandy Clay. After removing intestines, head, hide and leg bottoms the hanging weight was exactly 100 lbs., plus I trimmed off quite a bit of fat while skinning.

The hitch hauler is a good idea releveventchair. I’m just glad I had the quad ramp.

Regardless of what you’re after, keep getting out there.

Great job definitely not easy even for the “young bucks”! Most folks don’t realize how difficult it is getting a deer out of the mountains. Hats off to your self reliance.

Nice buck! I had to give up deer hunting. My back is so messed up I can’t sit in a stand more than a half hour. I’ve got two nice ones on the wall so I’m good.
Man ....... I love venison, but around here, so many carry diseases I am afraid to eat it anymore.

Yes Timbermaster, much easier for the “young buck” and I certainly hunt uphill more now days Concepualized.

We always appreciate you Oregon boys chasing a few bucks our way OV. Almost all of the Six Rivers National Forest, in our county, is still closed to all access, even though the forest fires have been totally out for weeks.

I understand a bad back Toddspoint. I do mild stretching exercises most days for just that reason.

What area are you from and what diseases are you concerned with creskol?
