Got out yesterday after two days of soaking rains. This buckle rang up as 22-23 on the Nox800 in Park1 setting. About 7" deep. Area has artifacts from colonial period up to present day junk. Any idea of age? Thanks for your advice and opinions.

Thanks, all. I should have mentioned that is quite heavy, maybe too heavy for a suspender buckle. I'll go with my imagination and say it fell off a Continental's gear as he marched to help save Danbury, Connecticut from Governor Tryon's raid during the Revolution. Danbury had been a storage center for supplies and a hub for distribution.

PS - The colonists arrived too late to defend Danbury, as it was burned pretty much to the ground by the British by the time the militia arrived. They did harass the troops all the way back to the coast and by the time the British returned to Compo Beach in Norwalk,Connecticut, they were in a full rout. I'll bet there's a lot of gear that was dropped along the way, but the area is now totally developed and privately owned.
