Burdie's Hot Alabama Hunt

Well, our beloved Kansas T-net friend has come and gone from Alabama. Burdie and his lovely wife Vic came for a visit this week. Sad to say that most of my relic sites are jungle-like, so all's we could do is drive by and look at the old chimney's and rock walls covered in their vines. We did get lucky and find a spot that had been cut the day before. We started off the next morning going to the lake and hunting a bit.




The finds........not much, but I had a wonderful hunting buddy!





It didn't take long before that hot summer sun had us running for a bottle of water and the cool air conditioning! We then headed for my favoite hunted out spot and the cover of the shade of the big 'ole oak trees. Lisa and Terri met up with us for this one.





Burdie's heart was racing like wild when he dug what he thought was his first large cent!

Here was my loot for the day. Got a 1925 wheat and the neatest key with a lion on it.





Then we had a little get together with my Alabama hunting buddies last night. Diggerbug, Terri, PossumheadEd and James in Alabama all came over to give Burdie and Vicki a warm Alabama welcome!






I had a fantastic time and am going to really miss you two. Hope the rest of your vacation is wonderful!

OH...and let me also mention the fact that our spouses were so gracious to join us in our hunt!







I think they may have been using that old addage...If you can't beat 'em...join 'em!

Great thing you did hosting those other T'netters! Hospitality comes naturally in Alabama, and I sure enjoyed my share in the few years I lived there.

May have to try out that bit of ingenuity with the inverter and the fan!

First off, which one is Burdie and his lovely wife in the pictures above? I need to size up my competition before they arrive Sunday.
Looks like you guys all had a great time, heat and all. You even had your "fan club" out there. Geez, and I thought WE were Rednecks here in NC.
Hopefully Burdie will score an LC at my 1830's house. Supposed to be in the 90's on Sunday when we detect.
I have my ice packs in the freezer now for my undershorts.
Looking forward to meeting Stan & Vicki. Hopefully he'll do like Mirage did, and go home with a reale!

That is too cool Nana....Look's like everyone was having a great time,even look's like someone was having a way "cooler time" ....That's roughing it for sure!!Hope you all can meet back up when everyting has died down a little.Good Luck to Stan on his LC quest,maybe MM's 1830's will have one waiting for him.Thank's for sharing....Must've been a good time regardless of the find's HH!!

In Savannah Nana. I had the best hunting with you guys. I sure hope to get back there again. I think I can easily say it was a rocking good time especially around the rock walls. Can you believe that coin was a 2001 NC Quarter. I was excited that was for sure.

It just doesn't seem any words can really be adequate for expressing our thanks and gratitude for such a great time. We will report in a little later. Going out to eat.

MM....I'll direct you to the last pic on the first post. Burdie's the one enjoying that nice cold glass of sweet tea. And the lovely lady next to him is Vickie. And I can assure you that Alabama has it's share of rednecks! I WILL have to say though, that the ice pack idea may put you over the top on the list of 'You might be a redneck if'. BRRRRR!!! I hope you two find lots of great keepers when he gets there.

Burdie...GREAT that you two made it safely to Savannah. We had a great time and miss you already. I hope ya find that LC before ya get back to Kansas!

Oh guys.....it sounds like a wonderful time! I have been peaking at all the posts of the trip, and was wishiing the whole time I could have been there with you. Especially since my Father In-law has been here for the last 15 days! Thanks for letting me get away with you folks.
