Back mark says Waterbury Scovill Mfg Co as far as I can tell. Interesting design with the helmet and the flag, with the a globe or something up top with rays coming out of it. Doesn't look too old as it's a two piece and the gilt is intact, but I have to know what it is!

5 minutes in lemon juice & a nail brush & that will come up great (rinse after)!

Very nice!!!

Thanks for the cleaning tip. Prettiest button I have found. Not the rarest or oldest, but the prettiest.

I would like to get a roster of the cadets to see if there was one from this town. That would be even better.

awesome find!! I use naval jelly on my buttons. works great!! then I always put some kinda oil on it to keep it from drying out to much. like 3 in 1 oil.

Updated with new pics after the lemon juice treatment. Oh my!!!

Yeap, just as I thought very nice. The only downside,& a small one, is that the exposed copper-alloy turns a reddish colour. As its not dirty anymore the exposed bits then become more obivious. Totally worth it though!
