Button ?

Any one have any idea on this button I found today. It was about 8" deep found it with the DFX. I know it is a eagle button but was wondering on a date and value and also any ideas on cleaning it futher. washed with soap and water so far.

I posted this almost 3 years ago WOW strange to see it up here again. Still have the button brings back memory's of a good day hunting.
Found some silver and a buffalo that day to.

It's was made from 1902 until recently, they were made by many companies
including Scovill Mfg. from my hometown of Waterbury Ct.. My fathers parents
and many of his other relatives worked there from the first world war until the
early 1970s. If yours was made by Scovills maybe one of my relatives made it.

That is a pretty cool family history. I have a friend that lives in nearby Middlebury, and there is a mansion at the end of their street that was once owned by one of the big Waterbury brass families.

Very interesting info. The spot I found this at had a war memorial dedicated in 1909. Would guess that was when it was lost over 3000 people were there that day.

This post brings back memories of a good day hunting and also makes me a bit sad as I look at it and see trk5capt made a post here he was a great guy and always helped out on TN with all the relic id's. He is no longer with us he was a great guy.

Does it have writing on the back?

I have one that looks like it, it says "New York button company N.Y."

Dont know value but i think its from World War2.

Nope the monument was done in 1909
could have been lost by a visitor after that though.

The fronts are all basically the same from 1902 until present. I was hoping to see the back to try and help you with the ID.
It must be one of the Attlesboro, Mass. buttons.
