In the current market, there are so many jewelers who purchase gold jewelry that it probably still makes sense to visit at least two companies just to find out what you have. Once you have a rough idea of the purity of the items you own, then you should visit at least two places for purchase offers. We should be very careful selling or buying golds as there are so many scams nowadays. In fact, a significant gold purchaser, THR and Associates, was topic of a CBS inspection which found its purchasers were drastically low-balled consumers on the price of their gold pieces. Since that report aired several months ago, investigations have begun to the company's dealings and the company has stopped its procedures. I have read it here: Government fraud investigations
