By far my coolest non-coin find! Right in my backyard...

Detected the good ol' backyard today. I though I'd pulled all the metal in the ground out of here, but I guess I was wrong! It's a Michigan resident deer hunting license from 1931! Apparently they used to be buttons, and NOT paper like they are today. I'm just surprised it's in such good shape, I'd have thought after 85 years of being in the ground it would be completely unrecognizable, but I guess not. Boo ya!

It would be neat to trace the license number to an individual, putting a name to the piece....even better if you found one of their family members who today is an avid hunter. They would be thrilled to have it I am sure. It would be hard to give up if it was me, but an even better feeling may come from it.

Congratulations on a very cool find. Our relics are different here in Michigan. I'm going to guess that it was probably not in the ground that long. Maybe lost by a grandchild sometime later. I love it enough to put it on my bucket list.

Great score with that token...I would be too curious not to try and ID the hunter through his license#
My dad received my grandfathers 1920's paper hunting license from a neighbor you had purchased my grandfathers shotgun at some point...my grandfather had rolled up his license and stuffed in a hole in the butt if the gun. Great find!

I've looked around seeing how to ID the license holder, no clue where I'd start. I would assume it was one of the previous owners of my property that I know a little bit about, but if anyone knows how to find an identity of the license holder, lemme know!

I would send a email to Michgan's fish and wildlife department or Michigan Game, fish & parks whatever they call it in Michigan and ask if that information could be retrieved, just say your with a museum..lol
