There's an apple tree on our land so I figured what the heck its worth a shot. I got a good signal pretty quick but it was very low and sounded a lot like some of the foil I found closer to the road. Being a first day dirt fisher I decided to dig it anyway . I stepped on my small folding shovel and about 4 inches into the dirt I felt a crunch like a glass bottle breaking. Well if it was glass I should dig it up I found some cool bottles earlier and now its broken.
I make a square and pull out the clump, to my surprise a half broken mason jar came out with it.
In the hole among the bits of glass I saw roundness and there was quite a few of them.

HOLY SMOKES!!!! IS THIS A CACHE? I reach my hand down and pull out a handful of change and bits of glass. !@@$@#!@!##@!!#@$$@!@#!@$ yep I lost it right there in the yard. metal detecting is an awesome hobby and i'm hooked. I plan on a definite upgrade from the bounty hunter gold digger as soon as finances allow.

The nickels the star thing the big coin and the indian came out together

the rest was found throughout the yard

After the coin pictures it looks like Ice Shoe attachment, small HS, Lg HS and an Ox shoe in that order.

It took about an hours time and an earbud style headphone to get it down pretty good and really hear the different tones. At first Ijust dug everything but after the 158th square nail I only dug the huger tones

Welcome to T'Net and to a great hobby/addiction. Your life will never be the same.

That's an awesome bunch of coins. Big congrats.

And BTW, I noticed in your info you say "don't make fun" of your BH machine. This find is PROOF that BH detectors DO find treasure.
I started with a Tracker IV and found silver coins, old coins and silver and gold rings with it. I also found a TON of trash but that's part of this hobby. They're not depth monsters but they WILL find the goods. Once in a while they'll surprise you with depth but generally they're good for about 4-5 inches on single coins. On a pile of coins like you found they can do much better.

That's a really great pile of coins. You must have a really good site. I would go back and pound it hard.
Oh, and if you're not completely hooked after that hunt you'll never be.

I believe that moon landing coin is a commemorative coin from the Marshall Islands that came out in 1989; 20 years from the first moon landing. I actually have a couple of those in the five dollar denomination but mine are just clad. They made them clad as well as silver. Is yours silver?? If it is it's a fantastic find.

That 1943 nickel is also 35% silver and the star token also looks interesting. Might be pretty old.
That was definitely a great hunt.
HH......

After my first day digging i think i did pretty well.
i have a ton more property to explore here. The big moon coin i'm pretty sure is silver, it looks like the 1964 half i found when you look at the edges, not like new coins that look like 2 different metals pressed together

Never overlook your own property thinking the grass will be greener elsewhere. That star token is a trade token, you can see "good for" above the star on your last picture of it. Great cache of coinage, most of us will never find one.

Your big coin is a commemorative one issued in 1989. It is made of cupronickel and face value is $5.00. Cupronickel is also known as copper nickel and is an alloy of copper with nickel and other strengthening elements like iron and manganese. And, why can't you live in south Georgia so I could come hunt with you?!
