Can anyone ID this buckle?

Hi, I found this buckle today. I tried to look up the pat. date on it but had no luck. I am finding U.M.C. shotgun shells in the same area so I am guessing it is 1906 . They must be busy at the patent office to have to work on Christmas, huh?

In case its not clear it reads: PAT. 12-25-06

The drawing at the above website shows the buckle used on a strap to hold books together. I hope this helps!
