- Detector(s) used
- Tesoro Euro Sabre, Vaquero, Silver Sabre uMax and 2 Compadres
A fellow asked. Can you can detect a coin on top of
a pair of plies after you nock out the plies with your
Tesoro detectors discriminator?
He saw a video of a Colden Sabre accomplishing
this task. He wanted to know if my machines would
do it. He also wanted to know if a Whites can do it.
I dont have no Whites.
So, I tried it with my machines.
Some pliers will work better than others for this test.
So, it may be some what of a trick,,,,,, but, I learned
something.
I used some heavy pliers,
Monte said that the nice thing about the Compadre
is that it works kind of like the older Tesoroes in iron.
but unlike the older Tesoroes, The Compadre has a
ED-180 discriminator.
I tried both pliers with both coins shone above.
I used a Vaquero, Euro Sabre uMax, Silver Sabre uMax
and a Compadre. I had a 7 inch coil on the Euro and a
5.75 inch on the others. All 4 are concentric.
The pliers are highly conductive because of the size.
That can change a lot as the pliers are changed.
The Compadre is the only one that could detect the coin
on the pliers, with the pliers being silent. It did it with
decent depth. But, if the discrimination was turned up
to a pull tab setting, the signal was lost. They may not
have mentioned that on the video, or the Golden may
have done better.
So, the answer is, I think the Golden may do as you said.
But, remember things are not quite what they seem.
The Euro Sabre was second best, but it did not have a
good response. It was just too crackled.
The Vaquero came next. It was close to the Euro, but
thinner.
The Silver Sabre uMax could not even discriminate out
the pliers.
Hope that helps,
