My Brother found this today at our "HOT" spot. Only hit it with warm water and a toothbrush. Thought if I used soap or peroxide I would loose too much detail. Coin is very porous. Can't see the date in the scan too well, but you can plainly see it under magnification. This is the second KG II found at this spot. My sister Kim found a 1742 or (7) last year. Once you think a spot is hunted out, something else pops up! HH Hogge

There are known 1757 KGII counterfeits, both struck and cast, however, I cannot tell anything from the scanned pics even playing with photo software, one thing to remember, even on non dug King George coppers and especially on dug corroded coppers the dates are sometimes very hard to define. Especially close in appearance are 1 and 7. When I found my first KGII Halfpenny in 1979 (eyeballed), I thought I had a coin with a 7740 date, but nope, it was the funky way of how the 1 appeared.................... :D
