Chain

Found this heavy chain buried on dry land, away from any bodies of water. Oval links are about 8-9 inches long and thicker around than my thumb.

Any way to determine how old it is or what it might have been used for?

I agree that it is likely a logging chain. However, I have one similar that came off an old drag line down in Florida.

Stretch it out and show us some close ups of the links, with dimensions. It looks hand forged
and that opens up some age questions!

That's the chain my wife put on me 35 years ago ! I was finally able to slip out of it. I'll bet you had fun digging that one.

Well because you are located in Florida, I would say it is a backyard restrainer chain for a pet Sasquatch.
Very popular back in the 50's.

Well you know in the old testament they talk about men/angels mixes, or giants. That was probably the chain that held their coin purse on their side. Go find the change purse that goes with it......
