I thought I'd share this find today. The button was in a trashy area about 6 inches down. I thought it was going to be another piece of junk but out popped this dandy.

Not often are civil war relics found in northern Indiana or at least people don't talk about it. Seems to be in great shape for the age, you can make out the manufacturer name around the back. Waterbury Scovill mfg company. Not to educated on the different types of these buttons but it is about the size of a quarter. General service maybe?

pretty cool button, congrats

Great find....Congrats !!

I know that Indiana sent a large number of troops to the war. So at a minimum the training camps should have lots of artifacts. Then of course when the soldiers returned home, artifacts would be lost. So we may not be a hotbed of CW artifacts, Indiana has them.

Congratulations on a nice button.

Very nice complete CW button mate. She is a dandy for sure. I'm in northern Illinois and my civil war finds are pretty special to me as they don't pop up that often. Congrats on the lovely button.:headbang:
