The "old technology" platform of the T2 is one of the best ever made by FT. I've been wanting to try one since I owned the Omega. The ergonomics alone are worth a lot!

What do you like about the Omega? Would you consider the Omega 8500 when it is released, especially if it is much better than the 8000?

Is the depth of the Nakota that much better than the Tek T2 se and is target separation much improved over the Teknetics?
If so I'm on board because in north west Florida targets sink very fast in our soil, not the beach which is unreal at the rate targets sink.
My T2 and Tejon are unreal in the depth, separation department and better would be better, lol

I liked everything about the Omega, the screen layout, functions of the controls, notch setup, great unmasking ability in 2 tone or 3 tone, except how high strung it was. Anything over about 70% sens and it just got too chatty for my liking and it was the worst detector I've ever used for being affected by EMI if anywhere close to an urban area. I've been told that the Omega in 2 tone is every bit as deep as the T2.

I just read a review by a 8000 owner that got his 8500 yesterday. Said it was bad locking onto nickels like the F44 (and my own LRP). He said it was a glorified F44. It isn't as good for small nugget like hunting even with 5" as the 8000. He did say the EMI wasn't a problem with the 8500. Guess we'll have to wait and see what others say as they ship out.
