..yes a older coin puts out a better hay low.An older coin in the ground will definitely read better. If you ever get a signal and you dig it, but once you get the target too the surface you can't find it. you should turn down you discrimination and you should be able too find it then..what happen the old target make a good hay low but once you break the hay low now your detector will read it as junk and will not report it until you lower your discrimination, and beep it's there..It happen up her on the road looking for copper. it hits on a piece, but when you dig it up it doen't read the same so you lower your discrimination and there it is a little piece of copper with a lower number because it's not as pure...

Yes - Coins that lay in the soil longer oxidize, which is the metal leaching out into the soil creating a hallo effect. This makes it easier for the signal put out by the detector to pick up the coin as it will appear larger to the detector then one that is newly dropped.

Metals such as Silver, Copper, or bronze do this more redally then say a Gold coin as Gold is an Inert metal and does not oxidize as easy. Usually what oxidizes in a Gold coin is the metals such as Silver , Copper or Nickle that are added to harden the metal so it will not bend so easy.

Hope this helps. :coffee2: Rick

No they don't...the signal depends more on the shape of the target, rather than the material, round objects give of the best signals :icon_thumleft:
