Went to a state park by my house in Cincinnati Ohio. I asked permission at the ranger office to detect there and they gave me the okay as long as I filled my holes and picked up trash on the way, they also told
Me they have NEVER seen anyone detect the park which is huge. There are multiple areas with pic Nic tables, a beach, bike paths and walking paths and a dog park, I took about 2 weeks and here's what I found. Coins from all over the world, old German coins, euros, a Mexican coin, Canadian coins, a car wash token, a 1976 bicentennial coin, a 9/11 commemoration coin, 2 modern $1 coin, a Susan b Anthony, a Sacajawea, a couple of buffalo nickels and a saints medal that says 1830 under the saint. I also found ALOT of modern coins and trash and a whole collection of toy cars which I gave to people as I went. I did keep a small tin airplane though that looks old, the tail fin is broke and the propeller is missing but it's still cool. I found it on the beach.

Some of the coins like the 9/11 coin were just below surface, all I had to do was scratch the ground and I found it. And ya most are pretty great. Most my copper coin finds are terrible though and the Sacajawea coin is stained realllly bad. I can't get it clean no matter how hard I try

I'd say the Susan b Anthony and 9/11 coin were the best, they were practically surface finds though. The medal is what disappoints me the most, it's hardly legible. Do you know what the 1976 bicentennial could be worth? And they all seem pretty gritty to me lol. There are a couple of nice ones but the majority are stained. The picture must just make them look better I guess

You may be on to something; seems like the park may not have been heavily worked over by MD-ers.
I suggest you find old pics of the park then search specifically where people gathered a 100 years ago.

the good condition ones were not deep. And I didn't find this in one day or even two this took me two weeks and I covered A LOT of ground. And not everything Is even coins. There's also a medal and a toy plane that I found on the beech in some rocks/concrete blocks. And thanks mackaydon you've been a great help since I started detecting, especially with the "confederate coin" that was a bummer. And thanks ground inspector its extremely worn but it was my first one

I've never pulled a good condition nickle out of the ground here ever.

I also concur with Mackaydon, I would get old aerials of the park then hunt the spots where it looks like there was a lot of activity a long time ago. The aerials probably only go back to the late 30's (1938-1940). You should be able to find aerials after that in like in 5 to 10 year increments so you can see how the park changed over the years. Hit the spots people gathered at in pre 1964 times! I bet you will be surprised just how much that park has changed over the years.
