I had a decent last week with my coinstar searching. I pulled a 64 rosie out of one machine, and then later that week at a Walmart I got a 52 Quarter. My first ever silver finds in a coinstar. I almost always find some sort of clad. I once pulled out over $2 in clad. Man I wish they were silver that day.

Can you buy the bag of pennies off the machine. I'm sure more what's where those came from!

Sadly TD banks does not sell bags off their counters, I believe it is a corporate policy.

ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1429559149.322258.jpg found in change today...ithink being so dirty meant no one else noticed the date! Worth 5.75 for the silver or $10 to a coin collector so I'm not cleaning it.

Lol, no coin collector in the right mind will pay 10$ for that... Date is too common, the only way it is worth 10$ is if it is in BU condition..

if you clean it, the value actually will increase.

What I've always been told is the opposite...what makes you say this? How would you clean it safely?

I clean my coins with Arm & Hammer Advance White Extreme Whitening tooth paste. a pea size glob on any side and rub it rigorously with your fingers. A circulated 1964 half dollar will only appeal to silver stackers, a shiny coin will look more appealing and might fetch just a little more premium. Its a psychological affect shiny things have on humans. When people say DONT CLEAN YOUR OLD COINS, generally they're talking about Key dates coins. I wouldnt clean a 1916 S W.L Half dollar, as I know the numismatic value is greater than the actual silver value.

But what if someone thinks they bought a high grade coin they will send it in for grading. It will come back cleaned. It might not looked scratched to you, but the graders will see the scratches under magnification. In a hundred years 64's will be hard to come by. Just clean it with some acetone (no rubbing) and it will be clean without added scratches.

Cleaning coins damages them. I would even avoid dipping coins without even scrubbing, unless properly advised.

Hence why NGC and PCGS have a "cleaned" caveat on some coins.

A decent Coinstar score for me today. In addition to the modern coins, there was a 1985 German Pfennig, a 1983 Chuck E. Cheese token, and a 1961 silver Roosie 8-)
