Was at my fave grocery store this evening, which happens to be across the street from my fave bank branch.

So anyways I walked by the Coinstar machine, and looked at the reject tray. I saw a coin in there, all by itself.

Picked it out.

A 1986 1/2 Franc from France.

Something to throw in my foreign coin collection, but not worth more than a buck or so at best.

Something is better than nothing!
;D

Anyone know the composition of these things? It is pretty heavy...heavier than a dime for sure. I could not find any info online as to what they are made of.

Cool find!

I believe it is nickel, but I could be wrong. ???

Anyone else see a similarity between this franc and one of our favorite U.S. coins?

Yes, there is a distinct similarity to our beloved Walking Liberty but hardly a competitive try. I believe the French tried doing their same copying thing with their army and ours. ;D
