Went out today with a friend just getting in the hobby, the day was going slow and I was ready to call it quits when he called me over to help him find a signal.

Together we quickly located and uncovered what appears to be an early flintlock/musket buttstock plate.

I jokingly told him since he called me over I was gonna dig a King George copper from under him, two holes later out popper a green coin, a quick rub down revealed the markings of a KG. Talk about luck, I mean skill....

Then we began digging this small area hard, lots of cast iron and pottery shards, the only other good signals to come from the area was a medium sized, beat up flat button and nearby a small cowbell.

He began working away from the site and located a nice boyscout neckerchief slide.

A great day with lots of digging and a few nice relics saved.

You have a good spot there! If you get your coil over a coin and dig it, that is well deserved. You don't have to call it luck! Of course you could have walked two feet to the other side and never have found it.. That is a KG II and they stopped making them in 1760 so that is an oldie!
