So yesterday afternoon was by far the best day of digging ive ever had. As I was leaving another site and to get out of the rain I decided to drive some south jersey back roads. I noticed a difference in a patch of forest so I stopped and prospected. Sttaight out of gate I was in a high iron patch and dug a flat button. Then the 12 43s started. First was a 1794 liberty cap quickly followed by a 1800 draped bust one cent. I lost track of which ones came after that but a total of 8 large coppers and one 1 reale was unearthed. Also dug were 7 or 8 flat buttons, buckle, iron relic and earlier in the day an 1903 barber dime. I attached a few after electrolysis pics . Sorry some pics are sideways. The total was 4 1800 draped ,1 1797 draped, 1 1798 draped, 2 1794 liberty cap. 1 one reale, and other relics and buttons. What a day!

great bunch of funds. Although not colonial, a spectacular find of large cents and even a 1 Real (not Reale) dated 1776, which carries a little premium!

Dream hunt. Multiple liberty caps, and in that condition? Let alone the rest...for goodness sake. This should be up top as well as in "best of."

Wow, you killed it today! You have two varieties of 1794 LCs. The one pictured to the right of the reale is quite valuable compared to the other one. About $1000, maybe more. Send me a PM if you want to know and I will oblige. For sure there are varieties of the 1797 and especially the 1798. Send me pics of the backs of those and I can let you know. I have most of the LCs in my collection, so i know quite a bit about them. The reale, dime, and buttons are just icing on the cake! I'm jealous, but happy for you at the same time. My vote is definitely in. BANNER, BANNER,BANNER!

Nominated Banner! 8 Copper Day, including 2 extremely rare coppers, semi-key coppers + 1 reale. Can't beat that!!! I'd love to see your electrolysis method because damn! those cleaned up good.

Hi; Awesome hunt. REMEMBER that there are several varieties of the 1794, 1797 & 1798 LC's ok. It also looks like the first 1794 you show has die breaks on it. That makes it even more valuable. DO NOT CLEAN THEM ANYMORE !!! Have them Professionally cleaned and Certified via PCGS or someone like that. You could destroy some great coins there ok. Please repost the pictures and Certifications when they come back ok. PEACE:RONB

Ive played that professional cleaning game before...ive sent coins to be cleaned only to be told cant be cleaned because there dug. Ive have uncleaned coins graded with horrible gradings. Electrolysis makes them look great while increasing the grade. I know what coins get electrolysis and which ones don't. Besides i have no intentions of selling them. Thank you so much for all the nice words on these coins. I dug two more today at the same site

Wow. That's incredible. Haven't experienced anything quite like that in my hunting career. Awesome that there were two liberty caps in there too. Great hunt. :headbang:

Fantastic finds and yeah I think those who recommend professional grading don"t realize that for the majority of dug coins;Especially dug coppers it is not worth the expense . They will very very likely come back with a "Environmental Damage" sticker which can actually hurt the collectability of the coin. And if you're going to keep them in your collection why bother? And the same goes for "professional" cleaning of coppers...big waste of money. Great site ya got there; congrats.

That is just crazy digging so many pre 1800s LCs, and in such great shape.

Amazing finds! I would love to have colonial in my area but alas it is as rare as hen teeth. I do enjoy seeing what you guys dig and you all have taught everyone so much about our early American history by sharing your finds and stories. Congratulations!
