Made it out today with Mom and Arty to one of our coveted colonial fields that has given over 100 buttons and a number of colonial US and British coins. It started off with a bang with Arty's first signal being a barber dime. I headed to my usual spot where I found most of my buttons and coins and proceded to pick away with my sensitivity almost maxed out on the T2. Pulled up a number of buttons and then a copper reading from my T2. Thinking this could not be because I have scoured this area many times. Well low and behold a nice green disc appears. I am not sure what it is still, bust facing right cannot make out any of the back. But I think its some sort of George. I found a few cufflinks also. One of them completed the I needed. I found its mate november of 2010. One of the last good targets of the day was an unexpected KGII. We hunted for a LONG time today and had a blast. I need some Id'ing on a few of my button finds. First it the Script D button pictured. The second is the Conductor button. Arty found the matching twin of the conductor button along with some other nice finds that he will post up later. Also the bust right copper has me stumped. Mom didn't fare as well, only finding a few buttons and a clay pipe stem. Theres always next time! Over all a good day that got a little chilly. Thanks for looking.

Outstanding hunt Jim! That's some killer finds there, especially the coin. Glad you were able to ID it thanks to Don and others.

By the way, your coin reminded me of a similar one my partner dug 10 years ago at a c1705 site here in southeast VA. I thought it was an Irish W&M 1/2 penny with the conjoined busts. But per my Krause book it only shows that style coin being minted in silver for 1692-94. His is dated 1693. Am I missing something here? Here's a couple pics. Appreciate some clarification from you experts. Thanks ..... Bill

It's official I did some toothpicking on the coin last night and starting getting some slight detail on the date area of the coin. Well I actually got enough detail to find the date! 1680. Hopefully you can see it in the photo I tried my best. Thanks again for the replies. :headbang:

Jim, Congrats, the 16 80 is clear as day!!! :icon_thumright: I have hardly any detail on the one I found, so I have to stay with the date range........

Found a photo of mine that was found May 2009, luckily I can see the 8 on mine which helped greatly with the ID, cannot make out the last number for sure, so I will keep it as a 1680-84 in my records.

1680, wow! Super early! I think I have found one or two but they are about the same condition as yours. We're all lucky to even find them on this side of the pond.

Congrats on the oldie! You are really crushing it with the coppers.

I guess I am in for tomorrow night, even though I don't have much to show!
