As some of you may know, I had Speedy(7”coil) for eleven
months now. He got sick for a while. I could not bare to be
without a compadre for any length of time . So I bought a
new one, (MsSpeedy).

I thought they would be almost the same, but I have used
MsSpeedy for a few weeks, and have noticed some distinct
differences in the way they hunt.

First off, I’ve heard people say the 7” goes deeper and the
7” is better and so on.

Don’t believe it. They are just different.

MisSpeedy is just as deep as MrSpeedy.

MisSpeedy is maybe a tad more sensitive than MrSpeedy.

MisSpeedy has the best separation I have experienced.

MrSpeedy on the other hand, has a pleasant, smooth and
expressive response.

MrSpeedy may not tell you any more about the target’s ID,

but it tells depth better. It is a better shallow target hunter,

because the depth is obvious to me right off. Don’t have to

fiddle with it.

That to me, is great. I can devote the two to two different task.

They are different animals, and I just love them both.

If you expected a longer post with lots of info, sorry, but that’s

all I need to say as I see it.

If there is something I left out, or some question I can answer,
please feel free to ask. I may not know the answer, but then
again, I might.

Happy Huntin,

Was looking at some of Tabdog's posts and came across this one and felt it deserved to be brought back up.Now i know this post is quite old and with the new offering i hear about Tesoro maybe offering an 8" coil now with the Compadre how they might compare to this.

The compadre is a very low budget detector
a real one button wounder
I don't think any size coil will make a really big different
the less ground it see the smother it will operate....

I think it would be better stated that the Compadre is a low cost detector for those on a tight budget, but even with it's low cost, it is as good as $250 machine out there, if not better. The 5.75 probably works great, but for the most part, I think the best coil for that machine would be the 7". It gives you good coverage and the ability to get decent separation on targets in low to med trashy areas. With ever larger coils, your going to get some depth, but your going to give up separation of targets.

Just my 2cents
